UNISON in Broadland
Hello and welcome to the area of the intranet dedicated to Broadland’s branch of UNISON! We hope you will find our pages useful, whether you are an existing member or you are interested in what we do.
The Broadland Branch of UNISON represents employees from Broadland District Council, both at Thorpe Lodge and at BCTS (Broadland Council Training Services). The branch also represents parish council employees within the district; Clarion Housing and retired members.
UNISON is Britain and Europe’s biggest public sector union with more than 1.3 million members. Our members are people working in the public services, for private contractors providing public services and in the essential utilities. They include frontline staff and managers working full or part time in local authorities, the NHS, the police service, colleges and schools, the electricity, gas and water industries, transport and the voluntary sector. Last year UNISON recruited 137,000 new members – 375 per day.
The branch is run by the Executive Committee which is elected every year at the AGM. The committee looks at any issues which it believes affects the Broadland members, whether it is a national, local or internal issue. If you are a member you can ask any of the committee about issues you are facing, or want to know more about. If they don’t know the answer they will know somebody who does!
